THE ARRHYTHMIA ALLIANCE EXCELLENCE IN PRACTICE AWARDS 2009

The Arrhythmia Alliance is proud to announce winners of the Arrhythmia Alliance Excellence in Practice awards 2009. These prestigious awards aim to recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to arrhythmia management services.

THE AWARD CEREMONY

The finalists of each category attended a prestigious awards ceremony,  held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, on the evening of Tuesday 20th October 2009. Winners were presented with a commemorative plaque in a formal setting following a gala dinner.

A panel of well-respected judges adjudicated the proceedings. 

THE CATEGORIES

1/ Charles Lobban Volunteer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arrhythmia Services 2009

Winner: Julie Fear

This award was given to the patient/volunteer who could demonstrate an outstanding contribution to arrhythmia services that has ultimately benefited patients and their families. 

2/ Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Management of Inherited Cardiac Conditions 2009  

Winner: Dr Anna Maria Choy
Highly Commendeds: Miss Cath Owen and Dr Pascal McKeown

The winner of this award was an individual who can demonstrate excellence in their clinical practice or who has developed an innovative way of delivering care for patients with inherited cardiac conditions. The winner demonstrated how they have developed ways of working that have been, or could be, adopted locally, regionally or nationally and that would ultimately benefit patients and their relatives.

3/ Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arrhythmia Management in Primary Care 2009

Winner: Miss Adele Graham
Highly Commended: Dr Du Xin

The winner of this award was an individual/team who could demonstrate excellence in their clinical practice or who has developed an innovative way of delivering care for patients requiring arrhythmia management in a primary care setting. The winner demonstrated how they have developed ways of working that have been, or could be, adopted locally, regionally or nationally and that would ultimately benefit patients and their relatives.

4/ Team of the Year Award 2009

Winner: Professor Arthur Wilde Cardiogenetic Department Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam
Highly Commended: Specialist nurse team Imperial College


This award recognised a team of health care professionals whose work has made an outstanding contribution to patient care, its quality and outcomes. The team were able to demonstrate that they have worked together to implement an improvement in patient care through a clinical development or education initiatives.  Evidence of collaborative working with all members of the team has been demonstrated and the structure of the team clearly outlined.

HOW TO ENTER FOR 2010    

1/ Entries are open to health care professionals or volunteers working in clinical practice, education or research, who are working in or have an involvement with arrhythmia management.  

2/ You can enter yourself or a colleague may nominate you. You may enter one or more category. Please indicate clearly which category is being entered.

3/ A panel of well-respected judges, jointly chaired by John Camm and Trudie Lobban will adjudicate the proceedings.

4/ Each category will normally have a winner and two runner-up winners.

5/ In certain circumstances, if the standard of entries is considered not high enough, the judges may elect not to present a particular award.

6/ Short-listed candidates will be invited to the awards dinner and awards ceremony at The Hilton Metropole, Birmingham on the 5th October 2010

7/ The closing date for entries in all categories is September 2010

8/ The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence can be entered into
