RECCOVVER Meeting

An invitation is extended to all UK-based cardiologists who are interested in the role of implanted devices for the management of heart failure to discuss a research proposal called RECCOVVER (Randomised trial of Early Combined CRT, Volume status assessment and Ventricular Rhythm therapy).

The study aims to randomise a large number (3000) and broad range of patients recovering from an episode of worsening heart failure to either an implanted device prior to or soon after discharge (with CRT-D being the preferred option) compared to a delayed and selective approach only after optimisation of medical therapy as advised in European Society of Cardiology guidelines.

The study is designed to be simple and practical. It is not yet funded. However, without enthusiasm and support from you this is unlikely to happen. We hope to enagage all centres implanting CRT-D in the UK in the study. By doing so, we believe this might require only two implanted devices per centre per month for study purposes over a 2-3 year period.

Professor Cleland will give a short presentation in te Lancaster room on Tuesday 4th October from 12:15 - 13:30.

All interested parties welcome, especially those wishing to contribute to protocol development and to lead the effort.
